Panettone Festa
Rich, sweet, and fluffy, panettone is Italy's most famous holiday cake. Get into the holiday spirit with our Panettone Festa on Saturday, December 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy complimentary panettone tastings, and discover your favourite to buy for everyone on your holiday list!

This tasty tradition has been around for hundreds of years. According to Italian lore, the first panettone was created in Milano in the 15th century (discover the legend here); ever since then, the fluffy cake has been on the holiday tables of Italians across the peninsula and now the world. Literally translating to "big bread," panettone is traditionally made over several days as artisanal bakers hand-shape the finicky dough with natural yeast that takes at least 30 hours to rise, then fold candied fruit into the dome-shaped cake. We love this classic version, but you should also experiment with the other varieties, from orange to hazelnut to chocolate (swoon).

Saturday, December 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Eataly Toronto At our Panettone Festa, taste as many panettoni as you can! Explore the tasting stations sprinkled throughout the marketplace, where we will be offering complimentary bites of panettone from our favourite artisanal bakers in Italy. Want to know the perfect panettone and vino pair? Visit La Scuola di Eataly between 2-3 p.m. to learn more! Once you find your favourite, bring them to your holiday table. You can eat the rich, fluffy cake at any hour of the day (read: for breakfast) paired with sweet spreads, alongside coffee, or with a glass of wine. If you're feeling extra sweet, share panettoni with your family and friends. In Italy, we love to give these elegantly wrapped cakes as gifts to symbolize luck and prosperity through the New Year. (Pro tip: they make excellent host presents!) No need to register in advance – simply stop by to get a taste. eataly-panettone-mascarpone-cream-berries-center-pairings-web Buone feste!
